we get it, Suri
one of my personal favorite celebrity babies, Suri Cruise (duh), now has an entire website dedicated solely to posting comments on pictures people have taken of her, for example:

the souk
The Zac Posen for Target opening night was mayhem ...a luxe party atmosphere complete with red carpet, celebs, and new 'it' band, but with racks of clothes and gobs of girls scattering about. In Zac's words,
“We live in the souk! Listen, this is my quote for the night — we live in the souk. We work, we play, we create, we pay, we get paid. It’s all part of the hustle and bustle that builds our country, and it starts in New York.” -nymag
I have recently been feeling more confident in my fashion vocabulary since I go to school for it now, but I'm sorry, what the heck is 'the souk'? In typical Emily fashion, I googled the term & found out that it is an Arabic term for a bustling marketplace. After discovering the meaning, I have to say that I completely agree, Zac, New Yorkers indeed live in 'the souk'.
also agree with "...we work, we play, we create, we pay"

thoughts about things on a thursday
1) There's no such thing as a free lunch.
For tax day, Energy Kitchen was giving away free lunch.
Woohoo, right?
Well, yes, if you found time to stand in a line out the door:
...which I somehow did, and it paid off...
...all that for free! (go ahead, call me frugal ...I prefer "savvy")
sidenote: I think it's weird when people take pictures of their food & put it on the internet.
2) Question:
Who is Jane Wood? And why does my street have her name on it?!
3) Springtime in Manhattan...
I do believe Park Avenue got her hair-and-makeup done.
Loookin' goood!
4) YAY
Chelsea Anthropologie grand opening is tomorrow

airplanes & cozy coupes
I came across these pictures today,
taken on my way to Hopetown last month...
Southwest Airlines serves their drinks with these napkins ...so, naturally, my sister and I colored in the states we'd been to ...and created our own "state" for Hopetown.
(looks like I've got the East Coast covered!)
...then Mom showed up both of us.
I also found this one that I took on my first day at Parsons...

I'm having a Zac attack!
Zac Posen, one of my top five, has a great new video with Gia Coppola for his Target line dropping nationwide April 25th (but there's a pop-up shop this week in NYC where The Like will be playing too ...anyone want to line up with me Thursday night 10pm?!)
take note of what happens at approximately the 1:09 mark in the video ...watch carefully & you'll see Raleigh! Almost strange how very 'ACORNS TO APPLES' appropriate it is.
ohmygoodness
fifi has out done herself ...look at what this t-shirt says! (now look up at my blog title, now down at the second line ...bingo. meant. to. be.)

paper bag prediction
the bag i brought my dinner home in last night came with this message...
...the bag wasn't really that big ;)
peep show
I traveled to DC last weekend to meet the fam half way for Easter. In my hotel room: The Washington Post. In The Washington Post: the most adorable contest I have ever seen ...the 4th Annual Peep Show ...a contest where people make dioramas out of Peeps (side note: Peeps happen to be my favorite because they are marshmallows and i love marshmallows). There were floods of pop culture entries, but my favorites were, ofcourse, the dioramas based on children's books and G-rated movies. Love these:

hello, yellow
yellow is my my favorite color. here are some things I love that are, well, yellow (of course).
yellow daffodils ...they're here, finally!
yellow doors on red buildings ...& red doors on yellow buildings.
yellow cabs ...especially in the rain
lemons
thought: when life hands you lemons, make lemonade
...or put them in a bowl & take a picture.
yellow beach cruiser ...always wanted one and this one's my color

...but I have now officially started a fund to raise money for a big time camera of my own. It's really just a make-shift piggy bank made of an old broken glass and a tag that reads "camera fund" with twenty-three dollars & forty-seven cents in it, but you gotta start somewhere, right?
oh, and the picture behind it? mom & me circa 1989
